Looking Back to Move Forward: A Special Education Session on Advocacy and Change
Join Mere Abrams, LCSW, and Janna Barkin for an exploration of how shifting cultural attitudes, social movements, and political climates have shaped the experiences of LGBTQ+ people and their families across generations. Together, we'll reflect on the evolution of feminism, LGBTQ+ rights, language, identity, and access to affirming care, while examining both the progress made and the challenges that remain. Through personal stories, historical perspectives, and intergenerational wisdom, we'll consider how to make room for evolving identities, navigate uncertainty and change, and show up as meaningful allies. We'll also explore how looking to the past can help us better understand the present, find joy and connection, and prepare for the future.
