Free LGBTQ+ Support Groups in San Francisco & the Bay Area

Whether you just learned your child is gay, your teenager came out as trans, or you're an LGBTQ+ person looking for community — you don't have to figure this out alone. PFLAG San Francisco has been supporting families and individuals in the Bay Area since 1977, and our free monthly support group is open to everyone.

PFLAG SF Monthly Support Group

Our flagship support group meets every second Tuesday of the month, 7–9 PM Pacific Time, online via Zoom. It’s free, confidential, and no prior experience or knowledge is required.

Who attends: Parents and family members learning to support an LGBTQ+ loved one. LGBTQ+ individuals seeking community and understanding. Partners, friends, and allies who want to show up better. People at all stages — from the first night after a coming-out conversation to years into the journey.

What to expect: A trained facilitator opens with brief introductions. There’s no agenda, no lecture, no pressure. People share what’s on their mind. Others listen. Experienced members offer perspective. Most people leave feeling less alone than when they arrived.

You Don’t Need to Have the Right Words Yet

The most common thing people say when they come to their first PFLAG meeting is some version of: “I don’t know anything. I don’t know where to start.” That’s exactly the right time to come.

Other LGBTQ+ Support Resources in the Bay Area

PFLAG SF focuses on families and friends, but we’re part of a broader network of support in the region. If you’re an LGBTQ+ individual looking for peer support, youth programs, or mental health resources, we’re happy to connect you with the right place. Our resource library includes guides for every audience, and our team can point you toward trusted local partners.

Join Us This Tuesday

Our next meeting is the second Tuesday of this month, 7–9 PM PT. Registration is free and takes two minutes.
